Treating your child's ear infection naturally

Children tend to be more susceptible to ear infections due to the structure of their ears. As they grow, the Eustachian tube curves downward allowing fluids to drain more easily. Until then, many suffer from recurring ear infections.

While an older child can verbalize what?s wrong an infant or toddler will indicate a problem by tugging, rubbing or hitting ears and fussing and crying. Push and release the flap of skin in front of the ear several times. Place the fleshy part of your palm over your child?s ear and rotate your hand in all directions.

If your child experiences sudden pain with drainage from the ear, take him or her to a doctor immediately as he or she may have a perforated ear drum. You should also seek treatment from a doctor if they continue to suffer from a fever, chills, dizziness or hearing loss.
